About me
I Like Art I don't know why, but art has always been the only things that really makes sense to me. A painting never comes out any better, or worse than you paint it, in this way you are in complete control. I am fond of this notion, it attracts me to artistic acts, because, many things in this world are beyond our control.
I guess you could attribute these ideas with my upbringing. My father has owned a tattoo shop, my entire life. Lots of my time as a child was spent there and naturally I would find ways to entertain myself while my dad worked. This amounted to a large amount of my time drawing and exploring the volumes of art books and reference material kept there. This lead to me having a very broad range of artistic influences, from Raffaelo Da Urbino, and Da Vinci, to Delacroix, to Gustave Dore. Old school tattooers like Don Ed Hardy, Norman Keith Collins, and Doc King, to some of the new school tattooers like Arron Cain, and Guy Aitchison, Matt Lambdin, Grime. From Hans Belmer, to James Jean, to Norman Rockwell, Frank Frazetta, Boris Vallejo, H.R. Giger, and even to graffiti artists like David Choe. I Like Other Stuff To Although provided a loose idea of what art is, most things I like could be called art. I like music, I mean who doesn't. I like playing guitar, though I am not that good. I like camping and hiking and skating and wrestling and reading. I like learning, from lots of things, even my mistakes. I like philosophy and psychology books, I like smokey old pool rooms and clear mountain mornings. I like solving problems, and proving wrong people who doubted me. I like the moment of realization that I was wrong, and I like paradigm shifts. I like observing people, and how they justify themselves. I like to be around positive, smart, people. I like to see people happy, one thing that attracts me to tattooing is all the people you can make happy with tattoos. You can make someone more beautiful than they thought they could ever be, with some needles and ink, and a little good will. Making other people happy makes me happy.
Influences I have been very lucky to be blessed with so many wonderful influences and role models in my life. Both of my parents arose from humble beginnings, and are hard working. I have never doubted that they wanted to instill within me nothing but the highest of virtue. I have also been inspired and influenced a lot by many of the people my dad works with, they are all very smart, and successful. I couldn't ask for a better extended family than my tattoo family, especially since I wish to pursue the same career, who better to grow up around than accomplished tattoo artists.
